Chiaro & Scuro
Chiaro & Scuro provides inspiring spaces in and around Austin, Texas. Chiaro & Scuro is Italian for light and shadow. The name seemed to suite us because we get much of our inspiration from our travels in the France and Italy. All the textures and colors of the Mediterranean influences our projects and compliment Texas' flair for opulence as well as rustic styles. Our customers appreciate our subtle finishes that appear natural and non-contrived. I feel that my partner Damon Baladez and I are a powerful team, because together we provide aesthetic beauty and at the same time we pride ourselves in the quality of our work, and our relationship with our clients.
Our decorative painting business has been an exciting adventure. I began painting murals and faux finishes when I first moved to a small town in Texas in 2002. I had just received a fine arts degree from BYU and I was full of ambition. I had a rough couple of years but I was determined to work for myself. Several local entrepreneurs took me under their wing and showed me how to run a business. By my forth year in business I felt my portfolio was strong and I relocated to Austin, Texas. Austin seemed as if it were full of hidden opportunities. Before I had even unpacked, I was fortunate to have been invited to be featured in the Austin Parade of Homes. The Parade of Homes was a huge success, I was instantly provided with dozens of high end clientele. I felt very humbled and blessed. There was so much work that I couldn't do it by myself, which is when I took on my partner, Damon Baladez. Together we created our name Chiaro & Scuro.
Today we get most of our clientele by word of mouth and referrals. We have high hopes for Chiaro & Scuro in the future. We are very grateful for the lifestyle it has given us, and the freedoms we enjoy being self employed. If you would like to view our work, go to www.chiaro-scuro.com, or give us a call if you'd like to visit one of our show houses in the Austin area.
